The client is an Icelandic fleet chain operator founded in late 2018. The team comes from a diverse background, ranging from business development, to mechanical engineering, boat building, education, banking, and medical devices.
The client wanted to develop a next-gen intelligent platform to measure impact forces affecting the boats during trips. Their aim was to minimize the likelihood of injuries on high-speed boats, in particular injuries resulting from wave slamming forces. By collecting and analyzing data on wave slamming acceleration forces, weather and sea conditions, provided operators with forward-looking insights and guidance on hazardous conditions to enhance and ensure safety at sea.
The solution consists both of an on board solution for vessel captains and an admin portal for fleet managers. The captain monitors the speed, movements and wave impacts in vessels, guiding captains with speed limiters to ensure that hazardous movements are minimized. Admin makes use of the trip data, where a fleet manager can track and monitor vessels in real time, receive detailed trip insights, reports, and crew and vessel performance statistics. Smart & data-driven solution is connecting the boating telematics system that delivers real time situation guidance, monitoring and trip insights. On board, it generates a suggested safe speed for operators to follow based on sea conditions, wave impacts and actual speed. It connects the vessel in real time with a fleet management system for performance monitoring and alerts. At the end of each trip, a report with insights into each trip, captain and vessel is automatically generated.
